It’s still summer! Autumn does not begin -
officially – until Monday, Sept. 22. We were blessed with many beautiful summer days. The harvest of goods from the gardens and fields has been plentiful. We give thanks to God for these blessings. Let us also give prayerful thanks to those who farm and garden, prepare our foods and transport them. We remember those who go hungry in prayer. Hopefully, we also serve them with generosity here in our community and in the larger world. The Christian Food Bank is one great way this happens locally. Its operation is a marvelous example of the care of many. Many people say, “Fall is my favorite time of year!” Not me! We are saying good-bye to my favorite season, which is why I’m going away this week – to eek out a few more days of summer (hopefully). When I get back next week it will be “full speed ahead” (sort of…). I don’t go “full speed” any more, on that jog around town or in my daily labors. Age is catching up to me, as time does to all of us. Still, we’ll give it our best as we move forward with lots to do.
I’d like to offer an evening of study this fall. But you need to tell me if you want it – if you’ll come. I would like to see more of us express interest in learning about our faith. Otherwise we are just gathering a handful of people who would be there any and every time. While that is wonderful, it’s not helping us reach so many more who would benefit from such an opportunity. What area of theology might interest you? Morality? Social Justice? Scripture? Let me know. Ask around. I would enjoy offering material from our rich tradition. I just need to know there’s interest.
INVITATION TO BE PART OF EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
We have re-instituted our Thursday day of Adoration at QW. The Eucharist will be in Exposition from the conclusion of the 7 am Mass until Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5 pm. Many parishioners have pitched in to make a time commitment of 1/2 hour to one hour of prayer to make this possible. And, we have a list of willing substitutes. Please stop by the Church to pray whenever you are able. If you are able to make a commitment for a block of time on Thursdays, please let us know, 814-834-4701.
